To maintain the security of all user accounts, Helpful Village enforces a few basic password rules. Please share these requirements with members, volunteers, and administrators when they create or reset their passwords.
Password Rules
- Minimum of 8 characters in total length.
- Must include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number.
- Should contain at least one special character (e.g., ! or @ or # or $ or % or ^ or & or *)
- Cannot include easily guessable information such as your name, email, Village name, or the word "password."
- Passwords must be unique—do not reuse old passwords or those used on other sites.
Helpful Tips
- Encourage users to create passphrases instead of single words.
- Avoid writing passwords in plain text or sharing them by email.
- Remind members to update their password regularly for extra protection.
These password requirements help safeguard your Village data and prevent unauthorized access.
💡 Note:
If you use your browser’s autofill feature, make sure to update the saved password after changing it in Helpful Village. Otherwise, the browser may continue trying to log in with the old password and cause login errors.
