How to activate Hub and Spoke?

The Hub and Spoke feature allows you to organize your Village into multiple Local Villages, making it easier to manage members, volunteers, and service requests by location.

Activate Hub and Spoke

To activate Hub and Spoke, please submit a request through the Help Center asking the Helpful Village Support Team to enable this feature for your Village.

There is no additional cost to use this feature.

Once Hub and Spoke has been activated, follow the steps below to configure your Local Villages.

Step 1: Access Local Village Settings

Go to:

Admin → Settings → Misc

Click the Config Local Villages button.

Step 2: Create or Edit Local Villages

You will see a list of your existing Local Villages.

From this page, you can:

• Edit an existing Local Village
• Create a New Local Village

When creating or editing a Local Village, complete the following fields:

• Name – Enter the name of the Local Village.
• Acronym – Enter the abbreviation you want to use.
• Color – Select a color to identify the Local Village.
• Local Coordinator – Select the coordinator responsible for the Local Village.
• Local Village Area – Define the local village area

When you have completed the fields, click SAVE.

Step 3: Assign Members to a Local Village

Once your Local Villages have been created, you can assign each person to a Local Village from their profile.

1. Open the person's profile.
2. Go to the General tab.
3. Scroll down until you find the Local Village field.
4. Select the appropriate Local Village from the dropdown menu.
5. Click SAVE.

Each person can then be associated with the appropriate Local Village.

Step 4: Select Local Villages for a Service Request

When creating a Service Request, you can choose which Local Villages should be able to see the volunteer opportunity.

When creating the Service Request, select the appropriate Local Villages from the available options.

This allows you to direct volunteer opportunities to the appropriate Local Villages while keeping your Hub and Spoke structure organized.
