What is the "Groups" function for?

Managing Groups

The Groups function is used to manage Mailing Lists and Tags (MailChimp), Volunteer Services, Village Builders, and other group categories within your Village.

You can create new subgroups within an existing main group. For example, you can add a new Village Builder group or Volunteer Service.

You can also edit existing subgroups. For example, you can rename the Drive volunteer service to Transportation.

💡 Note:
If a group (such as a Mailing List, Village Builder, or Volunteer Service) is synchronized with MailChimp, you will not be able to change its name.

Deleting or Archiving a Group

If you try to delete a group that has associated data, you will not be able to delete it. For example, if a Service Request is associated with the service type or group you are trying to delete, the system will prevent the deletion in order to preserve the associated data and records.

Instead, you can edit the group and archive it.

Archiving allows you to effectively hide or remove the group from active use while preserving all data and historical records associated with it.
