How does the Safe Service Clearance feature work?

There are three steps required to use the Safe Service Clearance feature:

1. Set up a group with Safe Service Clearance
2. Set up Safe Service Clearance for volunteers
3. Create Service Requests with Safe Service Clearance

1. Set Up a Group with Safe Service Clearance

First, select the group for which you want to enable Safe Service Clearance.

We recommend using this feature for services that may involve a higher level of risk or require additional volunteer screening, such as Friendly Visit or Drive.

Open the group and click EDIT.

Select the Is Safe Service Clearance required for this type of service? checkbox, then click SAVE.

The group is now configured to require Safe Service Clearance.

2. Set Up Safe Service Clearance for a Volunteer

Next, you need to enable Safe Service Clearance for the volunteers who are eligible to provide these services.

Go to the volunteer's profile and select the Volunteer tab.

Scroll down and check the Safe Service Clearance checkbox, then click SAVE.

Now the group is set up.

The volunteer is now approved for services requiring Safe Service Clearance.

3. Create a Service Request with Safe Service Clearance

Once the group and volunteer have been configured, you can create a Service Request for a group that requires Safe Service Clearance. We will show that if we create a new service request for a group with Safe Service Clearance feature, the service request will be created automatically with the Safe Service Clearance feature.

For this example, we will create a Friendly Visit Service Request and use Luisa Barbara as the volunteer.

Create a new Service Request for the Friendly Visit service.

When the volunteer views the available open Service Requests, this request will only be visible to volunteers who have Safe Service Clearance enabled on their profile.

The eligible volunteer can then select the Service Request and volunteer for it.

Once the volunteer has accepted the Service Request, an Admin can open and edit the request to verify that the system has automatically selected the Check if Safe Service Clearance required checkbox.

Users with full Admin rights or Service Manager rights can bypass the Safe Service Clearance requirement.
