Moderation allows Admins to monitor and manage posts and comments in Village Talk. This feature is particularly useful when an Interest Group receives inappropriate, unwanted, or inaccurate content.
Examples include:
- Unwanted political discussions
- Incorrect or misleading information
- Rude or inappropriate language
- Content that does not follow the Interest Group's guidelines
How to Moderate a Post or Comment
- Go to Village Talk and locate the post or comment you would like to moderate.
Click the three dots in the corner of the post.
You will have the option to Edit or Moderate the post or comment.
Edit
Selecting Edit allows an Admin to make changes directly to the original post or comment. This can be useful when there is an obvious mistake, incorrect information, or other content that needs to be corrected.
The Admin can make the necessary changes and update the post accordingly.
Moderate
Selecting Moderate opens the New Moderation page, where the Admin can review and manage the post or comment.
On the Moderation page, you can view:
- The original post or comment
- The Author
- The current Moderation Status
- The Comments section, where the Admin can explain the reason for the moderation
Moderation Status
The Moderation Status determines what action should be taken on the post or comment.
Admins can choose from:
- Accept
- Pending Approval
- Require Editing
- Refuse
Pending Approval
Selecting Pending Approval temporarily removes the post or comment from Village Talk and sends an email notification to the author.
While the post is pending approval, it is only visible to Admins and the Author.
The author can use the email notification to review and edit their post or comment according to the Admin's moderation instructions.
Once the author makes the requested changes and resubmits the post or comment for approval, the Admin will receive an email notification.
The updated post or comment will then return to Village Talk with the moderation status set to pending approval.
The Admin can review the changes and choose to:
- Accept the post or comment
- Pend further Approval
- Require Editing
Refuse the post or comment
Accept
Selecting Accept approves the post or comment and makes it visible to all members in Village Talk.
Require Editing or Refuse
If the Admin selects Require Editing or Refuse, the same general process as Pending Approval applies.
The post or comment will remain visible only to Admins and the Author, and the member will receive an email explaining that the post or comment requires changes or has been refused.
The author can then make the requested changes and resubmit the post or comment for further review, if applicable.
