How to receive donations for an event?

Go to Events → Events List

Choose the event for which you want able to receive donations and "EDIT"

Scroll down and mark the check box "accepting donations for this event" and SAVE.

Now the option will appear on the event, see the image below:

Now you can proceed to make a donation for this particular event.
