Web templates allow you to create reusable content that can be added to multiple pages on your Helpful Village website. For example, you can create a consistent header, footer, or other reusable content section and insert it wherever needed.
Step 1: Access Web Templates
Navigate to Admin → Settings
By default, you will land on the Website tab, the first tab in Settings. Click Web Templates.
Step 2: Create a Web Template
Create a new web template containing the content you want to reuse. For this example, we will create a footer.
Once you have finished creating your footer, click Save.
Step 3: Insert the Web Template into an Editable Page
Once your web template has been saved, you can insert it into any editable page on your website.
- Navigate to Admin → Settings → Website → Editable Pages.
- Open the page you want to edit and click Edit.
- In the text editor, place your cursor exactly where you want the template to appear.
- Click Insert → Insert Template.
- Select the web template you created.
- Choose the appropriate insertion option and click Save.
The template will be inserted at the current cursor position, so make sure you place the cursor in the correct location before inserting it.
Important: Understand the Difference Between "Copy" and "Include"
When inserting a web template, you may have the option to Copy or Include it.
- Copy: Inserts a copy of the template's content into the page. Future changes to the original template will not automatically update the copied content.
- Include: Inserts a reference to the original template. If you subsequently modify the original template, the changes will automatically appear wherever that template has been included.
We recommend using "Include" when you want to maintain consistent content across multiple pages, such as a shared header or footer. This allows you to update the template once rather than editing every page individually.
How to Identify an Included Template
Before saving your changes, an included template will be indicated by a red line in the text editor, as shown below.
After clicking Save, the included template will appear on your page as shown in the example below.
